Financial planning
What are your goals and priorities?
Our Planning Process
First, we learn your priorities and resources, then we build an agile plan of action that covers all angles.
Financial planning is the process of creating a roadmap toward your long-term goals while managing your priorities, needs, and opportunities along the way. For us, financial planning is more than the creation of a document; it’s an ongoing and evolving process that is customized for you. Fundamentally, we believe that your financial plan should drive your investment decisions.
Our work begins by asking questions, such as: What milestones are on your horizon? What are your long-term goals? What are your short-term objectives? What does a meaningful legacy look like to you?
Once we learn more about you, together we can begin the planning process. At each step of the way, this process will be tailored to your life and driven by three core beliefs: one size doesn’t fit all, a holistic approach is critical, and the only constant is change.
One Size Doesn’t Fit All
Our financial planning process is personalized to you, and we take time to really understand your unique circumstances. This allows us to present you with insightful and flexible planning strategies that will help guide all your financial decisions.
A Holistic Approach Is Critical
A good financial plan should include an analysis of your cash flow, savings, debt, retirement plans, income taxes, estate plan documents, and insurance coverage. Based on your needs, we provide comprehensive advice that supports your whole life and not just a fragment of it.
The Only Constant Is Change
Your family, your life, and your priorities will evolve and change over time. When they do, we will be there to help guide you through the ups, downs, and milestones that are part of life. And at each turn of the road, we do the “financial thinking” so you can put more time, energy, and focus into everything else.
Focus areas
Our planning process covers the following six pieces of your financial life:
-
Cash Flow Planning
We prepare cash flow projections that account for the “what if” questions in life. Then, we use this modeling to determine the sustainability of your current lifestyle and how a change could impact the likelihood of reaching your long-term financial goals.
-
Investment Planning
We build a portfolio that can support your near-term objectives and help you reach your long-term goals. In doing so, we develop an asset allocation strategy that has an appropriate amount of risk for your time horizon and personal preferences.
-
Retirement Planning
We provide guidance on retirement income and cash flows, and we analyze how likely you are to meet your target goals by your desired retirement date. We also help you think through the many lifestyle changes that will be part of your life after work.
-
Tax Planning
We collaborate directly with you or your tax preparer to identify planning opportunities and drive a unified tax strategy. As part of this, we look for ways to reduce or minimize your future tax obligations.
-
Estate Planning
We start by understanding what is important to you, your family, and your legacy, then, when appropriate, we can collaborate directly with your estate planner to help them craft a plan that will support your vision. Driven by your goals, our estate planning involvement includes strategic items, such as intergenerational wealth transfer and charitable giving strategies, as well as more granular items, like asset titling and beneficiary designations.
-
Insurance Planning
We don’t sell insurance, but we do work with insurance agents to provide recommendations on coverage levels. We start by calculating the appropriate amount of insurance to protect your hard-earned wealth, and then we help identify specific policies (ranging from life insurance to property coverage) that can address any gaps.
